M. Lajčák with Egyptian Ambassador about the upcoming visit to Cairo

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák received the Ambassador of Egypt in Bratislava Amr El Henawy today to discuss preparations for the Minister's visit to Cairo later this week.

 

Minister Lajčák confirmed that the Egyptian partners plan to open the questions of bilateral cooperation, the incoming Presidency of Slovakia in the Council of the European Union as well as developments in North Africa and the Middle East, where Egypt plays an important stabilizing role.

 

In his conversation with Ambassador Amr El Henawy, Minister Lajčák underlined the interest and readiness of the Slovak Republic to sign intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in science, education, culture and sport with Egypt. At the same time, Lajčák informed Ambassador El Henawy of the post-election situation in Slovakia and the process of forming a new governing coalition. In this context, he reiterated that the foreign policy of Slovakia has always sought and will seek good and constructive relations with Egypt as an important partner for Slovakia and the European Union and a major player in the region.
